
Megan McCarthy
ASSOCIATE
Meg joined Clare Locke as an associate in 2025 after clerking for three judges across the federal judiciary. From 2023-2024, she served as a law clerk for the Hon. Ralph R. Erickson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Before her federal appellate clerkship, Meg served as a law clerk for the Hon. Gina M. Groh in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. She also served as a law clerk for the Hon. Jennifer Choe-Groves at the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Meg graduated cum laude from William & Mary Law School where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the William & Mary Law Review. She competed on William & Mary’s Moot Court Team, and she received a brief writing award in each competition she participated. At graduation, she was inducted into the Order of Barristers and received the Cypher Award, which is given to students who demonstrate exemplary engagement, leadership, and service to the University.
Before attending law school, Meg worked as a project coordinator for the Veterans Assistance Project at the New York City Bar Association where she helped low-income and homeless veterans with legal needs related to their military service. She received her B.A. summa cum laude from the City University of New York. During college, she was an NCAA varsity athlete where she ran competitive cross-country, and she also worked as an English tutor.
